Publix Store Manager Jay Sellers welcomed early-bird shoppers, elected officials and Barrow County Chamber of Commerce ambassadors for the April 29 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Chamber President Tommy Jennings and Commission Chairman Danny Yearwood held the scissors as Bethlehem Mayor Sandy McNab watched as Sellers attempted to cut the ribbon with the Chamber scissors. He switched to a Publix green-handled pair and made short work of the task.
Gen Soucy was among the Publix cashiers greeting customers for the grand opening of the store which has an in-store pharmacy with Jeff Pierce as Pharmacy Director. Jennings said the community was proud to welcome the 1,004th Publix to Barrow Crossing.
Commissioners Larry Joe Wilburn and Steve Worley were also on hand as was Publix regional and district management.
Barbara (Grandmama) Watkins, Reba Riley and her mother Bertha Johnson and Gwen Bowers were among the early risers on hand before the sun came up and the ribbon was cut.
